Job Description Job Description Oil & Gas Field Analyst The
Field Analyst’s primary responsibility is to perform routine field
sampling operations and sampling equipment maintenance. This
includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and repair of sample
media, coordinating with field contacts, mobilizing to multiple
sites, and collecting pressurized oil, gas, and water samples
safely. The field analyst will be trained in HAZMAT packing and
shipping and be able to correctly ship pressurized liquid and gas
samples. The field analyst will also perform routine laboratory
operations focusing on projects from arrival in the lab through
reporting based on available instrumentation. This includes, but is
not limited to, sample log-in, performing analysis, and scheduling
instrument usage, troubleshooting issues, reviewing data, preparing
reports, and performing follow-up investigations as needed. The
Field Analyst will report to the Oil & Gas Operations Manager but
will also regularly engage with the Assistant Oil & Gas Manager for
specific project support. Field work for FA positions will be
required on a specific project basis. Starting Rate - $24/hour
Field Project Functions Coordinate with field contacts Map sampling
sites Mobilize to sites at the time agreed upon Collect requested
samples according to recognized methods and SOPs Provide a legible
chain of custody and job notes Log in samples upon return to lab
Trained in HAZMAT packing and shipping Ship pressurized liquid and
gas samples to appropriate laboratory Laboratory Project Functions
Initiate sample log-in Prepare Samples for analysis Set-up
Instrument parameters, and perform analysis following written SOPS
and/or GPA/ASTM Methodology Make records of all process steps with
notes to be included in reporting Prepare Reports for internal use
Administrative Functions Accurate recording of time for project
billing purposes Respond to requests from Laboratory Manager to
perform additional / follow-up analysis or reporting Other
Laboratory Functions Clean and organize lab area Scheduled and
unscheduled instrument maintenance Ensure proper cleanliness and
operation of oil and gas trucks, tools, sampling media, and other
equipment Help maintain cleanliness of laboratory and office area,
especially the sample media room Specific Functions Log-in
pressurized liquid, pressurized gas and ambient oil samples Double
check COC and sample tags for consistency Run upstream samples
(DHA, RVP, API, FLA, H2O) and midstream samples (Y-Grade, Round
Robins) Run QA checks (ProMax bubble point, control charts, mass
balance) Process reports and add them to directory folder
Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in science or related field
