Job Description:
As a Contact Engineer you will be responsible for providing
technical process support for day-to-day operation of the refinery
production units. They will be a member of a cross functional team
promoting safe and environmentally sound facility operation.
Responsibilities: - Understanding of refinery operations and
maintenances functions Optimize unit performance through defining
unit constraints, solving performance bottlenecks, and identifying
energy conservation opportunities. - Communicate this information
to the Production Control Group to aid in determining the optimal
operating plan. Monitor unit mass balances, catalyst activity, heat
exchanger performance, unit yields, and performance of advanced
control loops to provide recommended modifications to operating
procedures and operational guidelines. - Provide leadership on
initiatives that will improve safety performance and environmental
compliance by providing process information to the environmental
department-related to exceedances, lead and participate in root
cause analysis related to exceedances, recommend and implement
process changes and projects to prevent repeat environmental
events, and develop proactive solutions to environmental issues.
Participate in and lead process safety management (PSM) activities
such as hazard and operability studies, management of change,
pre-start up-safety-review (PSSR), updating process safety
information (process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation
drawings, and equipment files) and setting, monitoring, and
tracking safe operating limits. Participate and lead incident
investigations, which includes completing root-cause analysis
studies. Provide technical, troubleshooting, and turnaround support
to the cross-functional team which includes operations,
maintenance, inspection, process controls, and reliability
representatives. Includes reviewing and developing operating
procedures, working with operators in implementing procedures, and
assisting in normal shutdowns, startups, and emergency operations.
Communicate to all levels of the organization on items such as unit
status, constraints and/or potential risks. -Also, advise
operations on day-to-day activities and train/advise on optimizing
operations to maintain environmental compliance and safe
operations. Mentor and guide less experienced personnel as
