Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Technical Leader will report directly to
the Site Leader and will be responsible for applying analytical
solutions, using Lean/6 Sigma methodologies, to chronic and/or
complex problems within plant or division operations. In addition,
the Technical Leader will be responsible for the development and
execution of plant process improvement strategies. As a member of
the Site---s Natural Leadership Team (NLT), the Technical Leader is
responsible for directing the work of others and self to ensure
goals set forth by self, Site Leader, Division, and Company are
achieved consistently. The Technical Leader will be responsible for
leading and developing direct reports. As an individual contributor
to that end, this role is to create and implement strategic plans
for reducing process variation and improving product consistency
while improving product costs to world-class performance levels.
Key measures include DPMO, KPI' s of critical processes, and
productivity improvement year over year. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Key
responsibilities for this position include: Live the Safety stand,
adhere to the safety responsibilities Ensuring a safe, clean and
environmentally compliant work environment and building a culture
where safety is a first priority Ensuring that all control plans,
work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical
operation of the production lines ensure the safety of employees
Developing risk assessments for critical tasks Implement a personal
safety action plan and review with leader Safety metrics --- RIR,
first aids, near misses, BBS observations, SAFE and Critical 6
Leading and Developing Talent Training primary employees in the
manufacturing process Training employees in process control
procedures Working with employees to develop and implement Operator
Control Plans Partnering with Maintenance to develop and implement
Total Productive Maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee
understanding and ownership Individual Goals and Objectives
Presence of Operator Control Plans Employee Training Plans
Directing Operations Conducting daily process audits to review
Critical Product Characteristics and Critical Process Variables and
implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or
upsets Determining process consistency and capability (CPK)
Implementing control charting schemes for Critical Process
Variables Developing and implementing Operator Control Plans to
ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost
Conducting process audits and implementing corrective actions to
ensure product consistency and maximum volume Identifying and
eliminating special causes of product and process variation
(troubleshooting) Analyzing product and process data, providing
feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance
Networking with other plants and the Science & Technology Center
(S&T) to identify and implement best practices. Identifying and
implementing process improvements. Improvements may originate from
S&T or other facilities. Implementing corrective actions for
issues surfaced through quality complaints and hold tags Coaching,
counseling, and training all employees on process control Creating,
and documenting process settings and work instructions Defining
required maintenance actions to resolve equipment issues
Identifying and correcting repetitive equipment failures and
working with Maintenance to identify and implement solutions
Identifying, analytically justifying and requesting capital funding
for equipment, modifications, etc. Defining and tracking measures
of success Operational Efficiencies Critical Product
Characteristics and Critical Process Variables Cost Metrics
Environmental Compliance Product Testing Maintain and ensure that
all Owens Corning products achieve claimed performance and code
compliance requirements as defined by UL. Work with external and
internal test labs to ensure that test procedures are executed in
accordance with applicable standards. Communicate product/system
test results to internal stakeholders in a timely manner and assist
in developing a strategy for resolving any challenges encountered.
Knowing our Customers Identifying, understanding, and teaching
others the Critical Product Characteristics required to provide our
customers with a quality product Developing and implementing
procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or
exceed customer expectations Supporting experiments or trials for
new and existing products to ensure they meet our customer---s
fitness for use Customer complaint participation, including job and
home visits to personally view product in field. In-house Audits
Schedule Attainment Quality Assurance Customer Complaints including
Service Exceptions and Claim Dollars Total Productive Maintenance:
Serve as TPM Pillar Leader to develop excellence in use of TPM
methodologies and change leadership Lead, coach, and solicit input
from team members to drive successful execution of plant TPM goals
Assist in all plant TPM initiatives. Continue to use TPM
methodology to gain a better understanding of the
equipment/process. Identify and participate proactively in learning
opportunities and develops expertise in those areas. Create and
develop the team and pillar strategy for Focused Improvement and
Quality Maintenance. Align FI and QM Pillars to achieve plant and
business KPI---s and KAI---s. Utilize Focus Improvement tools to
problem solve. Work to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero
losses. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: BS degree in
Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, with a
working knowledge of engineering and statistical principles.
Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in an
Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical or Process Engineering role --- OR
graduate of the Owens Corning Manufacturing Leadership Program.
Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated results in managing culture change and driving a
culture of customer focus. Demonstrated continuous improvement
implementation and leadership skills. Preferred Experience with:
Lean/Six Sigma; Green Belt (Black Belt preferred) Process Modeling
Process Controls Process Loop tuning Statistical Process Control
skills FMEA Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The employee should
hold the following abilities: Ability to train and coach others
Must have strong process acumen Computer and Software Competencies:
The employee must be able to: Proficient with MS Office Suite;
Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with an ERP system,
SAP experience is an asset. Essential Physical Requirements/Work
Environment: The employee should possess the ability to: Be exposed
to temperature extremes Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that
maybe uncomfortable Be exposed to asphalt smells Able to wear
applicable PPE for up to 12 hours It is a requirement to be a U.S.

salary range for this position is $82,000-106,000 with the
potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has
