business model.. The Rapids Digital department manages all digital
assets for Colorado Rapids Soccer Club, one of the founding clubs
in Major League Soccer. This includes ColoradoRapids.com, the
team’s space within the MLS App, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram,
YouTube and a share of the weekly email communication. The
department acts as the primary news & information outlet for the
club and their goal is to amplify the brand and ethos of the club
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The group’s goal is to tell the
story of the club like nobody else can, focusing specifically on
visual content.. Position Summary. As part of the Rapids Digital
department, the Director of Digital & Video will oversee and manage
a large portion of the group’s day-to-day planning, scheduling &
video strategy while striving to meet business and club-wide goals.
This position will act as the primary connection for different
stakeholders within the Digital department but also in
communicating across the front office with project leads in
Marketing and Communications. In addition, this position will be
tasked with managing the club’s video content strategy in
collaboration with videographers, producers and social media staff.
This position will be heavily involved in general project
management and video production.. Essential
Functions/Responsibilities. Manage video content strategy,
calendar, publishing schedule & coverage of the club. Oversee video
assets and production including staffing, content development &
strategy. Work with Communications/Marketing to ensure messaging is
aligned & business goals are met. Continually pushing envelop for
video initiatives and developing innovative solutions. Pitch
content ideas and see them through to delivery including all phases
of development and production.. Maintain strong interdepartmental
relationships across the front office & with external partners.
Strategically drive digital commerce through video content that
supports retail and ticket sales. Provide documents and
recommendations on trending topics, products and best practices.
Conduct project-based and monthly recaps by tracking performance
and identifying trends. Performance Requirements/Skills. Experience
managing a content team including videographers and graphic
designers. Experience executing against a content strategy and
collaborating on large projects. Understanding of video production
trends in the industry and sport. Ability to conduct meetings and
convey big picture strategy. Strong time management skills,
understanding of creative workflow and digital trends. Ability to
multitask and manage multiple project timelines simultaneously.
Ability to meet deadlines and communicate deliveries to different
parties. Comfortable working across departments with differing
objectives – broadcast, media, marketing, community, sponsorship,
PR, and soccer operations. Manage partnerships with brands, teams,
and external clients as it pertains to site/mobile app. Communicate
effectively through written copy – both internally and externally.
Strong attention to detail and proof-reading skills. Quickly and
clearly organize thoughts and projects and present them as needed.
Pitch content concepts and execution plans for video and social
activations. Passion for content creation, storytelling, brand
building and trends of consumers. Availability to work long and/or
irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, travel as needed.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mac/PC software, and web/new media
technology. Basic Photoshop, InDesign, photography and social media
skills. Strong knowledge of rules, culture and terminology of MLS
and American soccer. Bachelor’s degree in communications,
marketing, public relations or related field. Expertise in HTML,
CSS and SEO. General office equipment including copier, fax, phone,
computer/keyboard, etc.. General photography and video equipment.
Education/Experience. Bachelors Degree in related field, required..
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the field, preferably
managing staff and in a professional or college sports environment.
