SCHEDULE: Part time - 3 - 9 PM - no set days and/or Sundays 10 AM - 3 PM; flexibility needed

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Balfour Senior Living is looking for Dining Room Servers to enhance the culinary experience of our residents. As a Dining Room Server, you will serve our residents in a formal restaurant setting using established rules of etiquette. Successful candidates will work in a non-tipping environment, perfect for those seeking steady hours and income. Ideal candidates will be passionate about providing superior customer service, will excel at building relationships, and have a professional and outgoing personality. Your ability to work weekends and holidays is essential in this role.  

What does a Server do at Balfour Senior Living?  

• Interact with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to the community in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner  
• Setup dining room, which includes a full place setting at every seat, extra cups, saucers, soup bowls and plates, glasses and napkins in their appropriate locations  
• Serve residents their requested meal and beverage items  
• Inform residents of the daily menu choices  
• Assist residents as needed, may include cutting food and operating condiments  
• Responsible for making fresh coffee on an as needed basis  
• Clear tables and reset place settings as soon as the resident leaves their seat  
• Dishes are to be cleaned of food debris and placed in the appropriate bus tubs  
• Clean and sanitize tables between each seating  
• Clean ice cream area, wait-staff line, soup area and the coffee, juice and milk stations  
• Mop wait-staff area of the kitchen at the close of each PM shift  
• Always act as a positive representative of the community   

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:   

• Talent, passion, and desire for interacting with a wide variety of people (residents, resident families, etc.)  
• Demonstrated experience working in a customer focused role  
• Basic ability to read, write, understand, speak and follow direction in the English language  
• Ability to communicate openly, honestly and responsibly with others  
• Ability to maintain a customer focus treating all customers with respect and integrity  
• Ability to accept responsibility for agreements made and follow through as appropriate   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:   

• Demonstrated experience working in the hospitality or restaurant industry preferred  
• Previous experience with a POS (Point of Sale) system   

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:   

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods  
• Ability to push/pull objects and lift/carry between 20-50 pounds unassisted on a frequent basis (pending location or requested job duties)  
• Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends as well as holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary  
• Our communities provide assisted living, assisted living memory care, and skilled nursing (pending location)

Health & Wellness Protocols: Until further notice, interviews will take place virtually. Newly-hired associates will complete Balfour Senior Living's New Hire Orientation virtually, then receive important training about how to keep our residents, and themselves, as healthy as possible. This includes things like hand washing and social distancing. You will also follow wellness protocols developed under guidance of health agencies before entering any of our buildings.
