SCHEDULE - Full time - 1:30pm to 10:00pm      


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance, operation, safety, and general condition of our building(s). This includes, but is not limited to, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). In this role, the individual must also pay close attention to the overall interior and exterior appearance of the building and common areas. In this position, you will interact with residents daily and respond timely to their maintenance requests providing exceptional customer service.  

What does a Maintenance Technician do at Balfour Senior Living?   

  •  Ability to accurately schedule times and location of the company vehicle to ensure its availability to make both scheduled and unscheduled trips   
  • Service company vehicles, such as gas fill up, oil changes, washing, and routine maintenance   
  • Make minor repairs or adjustments such as fixing punctures, cleaning spark plugs, or adjusting carburetor   
  • Ability to write simple correspondences and communicate openly, honestly, and responsibly with others   
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, clients, and employees   
  • Perform miscellaneous errands as needed   
  • Delegate responsibility for the completion of assigned duties in accordance with existing federal, state, and OSHA regulations and established company policies and procedures   
  • Interact with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to the community in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner   
  • Honor residents’ personal and property rights and maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information   
  • Clean and sanitize residents’ rooms and other areas of the community   
  • Maintain cleanliness of laundry area in accordance with established Balfour policies and procedures   
  • Provide a security presence during shift.    
* Work may include kneeling, crouching, or working atop ladders 

You bring the following skills and experience to Balfour Senior Living    

            5 years experience as Maintenance service provider in Multi-Family, Hotel, or Senior Living settings.    

  • Must possess a general knowledge and experience of preventative maintenance, general repairs, HVAC (preferred), plumbing, electrical, and painting in a professional setting   
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English concerning the mixtures of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instruction, etc.   
  • Knowledge and ability to use household and industrial washers and dryers; knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment, and procedures for both washing and drying materials   
  • Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary   
  • Must possess ability to work with hand and power tools, able to self-manage, and work with a team
  • Must be able to use technology to receive and complete work orders, must possess basic troubleshooting skills in Appliances, Electronics, Plumbing, and HVAC
  • Must be able to patch and paint walls, perform snow removal, and general groundskeeping
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and perform repetitive bending and lifting tasks, and be able to remain on their feet for extended periods
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate professionally

- Be able to work with seniors and individuals with dementia and memory loss   
- Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions  
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather)   
- Moderate noise level   
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl, and climb for prolonged periods   
- Ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 65 pounds; frequently lifting about 25lbs   
- As needed, travel to and work in multiple locations weekly within a 5-mile radius   
- May be exposed to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens   
- Our communities provide assisted living, assisted living memory care, and skilled nursing (pending location)

Health & Wellness Protocols: Until further notice, interviews will take place virtually. Newly-hired associates will complete Balfour Senior Living's New Hire Orientation virtually, then receive important training about how to keep our residents, and themselves, as healthy as possible. This includes things like hand washing and social distancing. You will also follow wellness protocols developed under guidance of health agencies before entering any of our buildings.
