Position Type: Classified/Campus MonitorDate Posted: 11/2/2022Location: Adams City High SchoolClosing Date: Until FilledPOSITION: Campus Security POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the safety and well being of students, staff and school facilities and assets at the assigned school location. Duties include supervising and monitoring students within and outside the school building, enforcing appropriate student behavior, communicating with students regarding issues and/or behavior, escorting students and/or unauthorized visitors, assisting with fire drills and other threats and assisting in removal from classroom of disruptive students. May assist with translation and/or communication using second language skills when possible. Abide by State, Federal and District rules and regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: Proof of high school diploma or equivalent. May be required to successfully complete job embedded staff development as part of the No Child Left Behind Act within the first year of employment, depending upon specific job responsibilities. Oral and written communication, interpersonal, basic computer, conflict management and behavior management skills. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and basic office productivity software. Basic operating knowledge of student information system software may be required within 2 weeks after hire. English language skills required. Oral and written fluency in second language may be preferred or required based on building assignment. EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of experience working with high school or middle school students, and/or 1-2 years of experience in military or law enforcement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily 40% - Supervise and monitor the interior and exterior of the school building before, during and after school to ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff and to ensure the security of school facilities and assets. Monitoring includes walk-through as well as video surveillance. Responsible for validating that exterior doors are secure throughout the school day. Provide crowd control in hallways, passing periods, courtyard, parking lots, cafeteria and/or other gathering spaces and intercede on fights and other disturbances.10% - Assist Site Coordinator in planning of aforementioned activities. Daily 15% - Maintain familiarity with and enforce Student Conduct and Discipline Code, Safe Schools Handbook and other school rules and regulations. Administer warnings to students and refer them to building administrators for disciplinary action. Communicate with students to discuss altercations, behavior and/or progress; to mentor and/or counsel at-risk students; and to provide reinforcement of expected behavior. Daily 15% - Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or criminal activity. Assess danger and calls for assistance if necessary. Intervene to halt or prevent fights, disturbances or other incidents and diffuse threatening or confrontational situations between students and others. Help to ensure order is restored and students unharmed. Investigate a variety of student incidences, including fights, thefts, weapons and substance abuse. Daily 5% - Escort students to and from the office for disciplinary reasons and escort unauthorized personnel from the campus as needed. Daily 2% - Assist administrators with tornado drills, fire drills, evacuation drills, and bomb threats. Assist in carrying out Emergency Response Plans in the event of an actual crisis. Weekly 5% - Electronically maintain accurate and complete security records pertaining to discipline warnings, parking control and criminal events. Weekly/Monthly 3% - Assist SRO's and law enforcement when requested. Daily 5% - Monitor parking, issues parking permits, issues verbal or written warnings or parking summonses as appropriate. Monthly 5% - Attend ongoing training to maintain skills in safety practices Ongoing 5% - Perform other duties as assigned. SALARY: Range 7 of the Classified Employee salary schedule.
